All the things we were told
Weren't all it was supposed to be?
The bill known as McCain Feingold
Still allows money to flow free
Even though now there is a hold
On what was once called soft money
But this is no cure for the disease
For now it goes to 527s and 501(c)s

Money, like water, will find an out
Of that much you know for sure
Though politicians always spout
And sincerely say the abjure
The system that has been without
Limits on a campaign's lucre
But, still now, when you consider
They still are sold to the highest bidder
